Yesterday, Currensee officially announced Jonathan Jesse as Vice President of Engineering. With over 15 years of software development, engineering, and technology experience, Jesse will undoubtedly be an integral asset to Currensee’s team of technologists.

With a rapidly growing financial technology company, comes the inherent need to build a strong group of seasoned software engineers to support that growth. This is something that Currensee has been successful at from the beginning, which is demonstrated in the emphasis put on the size and talent of the current engineering force.

Few Currensee employees know the back-end of the company as well as Director of Software Development, Emanuel Kdziela. Having been with Currensee from its start, Emanuel knows the Forex collaboration platform inside and out. It’s always interesting to learn why people love to do the jobs they’re doing, and with Emanuel’s near four-year tenure with Currensee, something must be keeping him coming back each day.

“It's a company with a lot of promise, clearly on its way to success and presents interesting challenges,” says Emanuel. “I also like the people I work with and enjoy our culture.”

Culture is definitely what sets Currensee apart from the Boston financial crowed, and likely what has kept us progressing throughout the years. The Currensee “Pips”, our 30+ person team, are truly the ones who make being here everyday an absolute pleasure. This group of innovative and hard working professionals comprised of engineers, sales people, product developers, marketers, and many more, have all contributed to building Currensee into what it is today.

Recently, we have been quite fortunate in our ability to further expand upon our team of technologists as a means of improving our product and continuing to foster its growth and development. As an already engineer-heavy company, more brains can only add to the innovation, right?

“The tech team here at Currensee is great because it is made up of top notch, smart, hard working engineers,” says Emanuel.

As demand for portfolio diversification with alternative investments increases, the Forex industry has seen an overall surge in investor interest. As a pioneer on the front of bringing both retail and institutional investors professional Forex money managers through advanced autotrading software, Currensee has been undergoing a bit of a growth spurt itself.

But, as with all great things, there’s still a splash of reality to be mindful of. Working at a company that’s redefining an industry while carving out a new technology and investing concept isn’t always all glamour.

“It definitely has its challenges and difficulties, but that just makes success that much more meaningful and rewarding,” says Emanuel.

That’s the beauty of Currensee, though. If you want to be challenged in your career and grow as a professional, working at a young - but not too young - FinTech firm is where you need to be.

Throughout the past few months, 200 of Massachusetts’ best and brightest technology companies have been competing for the prestigious Mass Tech Leadership Council awards.  Submissions were judged by a panel of Council trustees and local thought leaders who narrowed the contest down to 15 star-studded companies. We were totally psyched to learn that we made it to the finalist list!

Our fellow finalists could not be a more eclectic bunch of public and private companies. They have a wide array of products, ranging from Gemvara’s design-your-own jewelry to iWalk’s electronic limbs. The competition was stiff and we’re proud to be the only financial services tech company who made the cut.

On October 6th, all fifteen finalists will duel it out for the Product of the Year title at the Massachusetts Technology Awards Gala.  Throughout the cocktail reception, the CEO of each company will present their product and the winner will be judged by a live audience vote.   We’re counting on Currensee CEO, Dave Lemont, to dazzle the crowd and bring home our first Product of the Year Award!

I tweeted yesterday ...

“There is nothing quite like pre-launch madness. Complete stress & mayhem but I wouldn't have it any other way:-) #whyilovestartuplife”

I love start-up life and it’s mostly because of days like today.

Moments ago, we launched the Trade Leaders™ Investment Program, an important milestone in Currensee history. As the first social network for Forex traders, our mission is — and has always been — to bring trust to the foreign currency market. We’ve made great progress including growing our social network, partnering with top-tier brokers and expanding to the UK, but we’re not finished yet. The launch of the Trade Leaders Investment Program delivers a new way to invest in the currency market by enabling investors to follow and automatically execute the trades of some of the most successful traders from the Currensee Social Network.

What does that mean exactly? It means that investors in any asset class and on every continent can get involved in the Forex markets, even if they’ve never traded a currency pair themselves.

Here’s the 10-second overview: Trade Leaders are top Forex traders hand-picked from the Currensee social network. We relentlessly assess their performance, risk management, and returns and only the best make the cut. You can see it for yourself by clicking on any of the Trade Leaders on the Trade Leaderboard. Remember, Trade Leader performance is actual performance. Never fake or fluff. No backtesting or demo accounts. Real, honest to goodness performance in a live account.

Investors in the Trade Leaders Investment Program check out the Trade Leaders, select the Trade Leaders they want to invest in and create their very own Trade Leader portfolios. Once the investor allocates their funds, the Trade Leader’s trades are automatically executed in the investor’s account. Best of all, investors see all trades executed in real time and have full control over their account.

Watch The New Way to Invest, and learn about the program in just a few minutes.

Today, Forex is one of the hottest alternative asset classes being traded. While we can’t take credit for all the hype, we’d like to think of ourselves as being on the forefront of innovation in this market. It’s amazing to think what started as a simple idea between a software developer and a Forex trader has turned into an international foreign currency social network with thousands of traders meeting and collaborating in real time. And, now, that social network is a source of top traders for investors around the world to take advantage of this dynamic asset class. Pretty cool stuff.

Here at Currensee HQ we often talk endlessly about the amount of cupcakes and mozzarella we consume because of our location in the "little Italy" of Boston. But a side of us we rarely talk about is our athletic side. As one of the newer Currensee team members I was overjoyed to find out that many of my fellow co-workers were athletes. We have boxers, runners, and cyclists. As a runner myself I found an immediate home with the Currensee team - the workout team that is.

This past Sunday Asaf Yigal, Shereen Shermak, and myself participated in the Scituate Duathalon. What's a duathalon you ask? Well take the swimming out of a triathalon and it's a RUN, BIKE, RUN. As firm believers in community, collaboration, and teamwork the three of us decided to sign-up for this race.

As we gathered in the early morning hours we were less than thrilled to get going. Talk of faking illness, ailments, and broken brakes consumed our thoughts. Although we were chilly we forged ahead and each completed our first ever duathalon (and with pretty decent times I might add!).

This morning the office has been buzzing with excitement from our race. Talk of that crazy girl that beat us all, the time penalty someone (cough cough Asaf cough cough) received, and how our legs felt like Jello before our third and final leg of the race. Thank you to everyone who supported us and sent along their good luck wishes. We'll keep you posted on our next adventure. Happy Running, I mean Trading!

We've been busy here at Currensee. It's Fall here in New England and we thought - what better time to redesign the website? Some people took the summer off but we were working away on a complete site overhaul. And, voila, it's ready for prime-time.

Designing and building websites in the start-up world is a fun but challenging task. You release something to the world and then two days later, the message changes or there's a product update or we change our mind about a graphic or image. I think about our website as the living representation of our brand - who we are, what we stand for and what we do. The site needs constant care and feeding. The idea of whipping a website together, putting it up and leaving it for months and months is archaic and trust me, you'll see the results in your web traffic. Instead, here at Currensee, we are constantly improving what we do for our visitors to currensee.com.

Our redesign is centered around three main goals:

  1. Making content more accessible
  2. Improving the overall design
  3. Delivering a better user experience and more functional UI

Upgrades include:

  • New layout, navigation and design
  • Affiliate signup form and affiliate program information
  • New About page and "Memory Lane" timeline
  • Social links on all pages
  • Updated messaging and positioning
  • New content sections
  • Direct links to upcoming events on our homepage
  • The ability to easily scale with new product and platform offerings

Our super-talented Product Designer, Elliot Nash, had a huge hand in making this redesign happen. Of the redesign he says, "The Currensee.com redesign makes our marketing site more usable and gives visitors a better overall experience." Way to go, E!

Here's to continuous improvement. It's a beautiful thing. Check out the redesign by going to Currensee.com.

Every Monday, Social Media Tyrant Manager Lindsay invites Currensee fans to enter a weekly contest to become the PIP of the Week. And every week I ask Lindsay:

“Can I be Head PIP? Can I? Can I? I’ll be the best Best PIP ever!”

I say it in the endearingly obnoxious way only I can. And every Friday afternoon (you guessed it), my dreams of greatness are oppressed squished when I am not chosen for the prestigious award. The marketing crew does, however, enjoy laughing at my expense, and at my major lack of PIPs  - both in my trading and my trophy case. It is truly a sad, PIP-less life I lead.

It’s no wonder I seek acknowledgement elsewhere – doing and wearing ridiculous things to get attention, and seeking ownership of my very own corner of Currensee World HQ. Despite my multiple attempts to be named PIP of the Week (or of the Day, or Minute, or of Anything), I can never seem to catch a break.

I actually have no idea how the PIP of the Week is chosen, but I know it's a highly technical process:

The house pet chooses PIP of the Week

Let’s take a look at the many Currensee accomplices who have aided Lindsay destroying my dream of PIP-hood (and yes, I have an arsenal of corny PIP jokes):
  • Graeme Allen, ruling PIP from 8/20 to present
  • Teddy Pantouw, former ruling PIP from 8/13 to 8/19
  • Bob Garcia, former ruling PIP from 8/6 to 8/12
  • Levent Kilic, former ruling PIP from 7/30 to 8/5
  • Ahmed Isioye, former ruling PIP from 7/23 to 7/29
  • Guy Barry, former ruling PIP from 7/16 to 7/22

To PIPs former and current, I congratulate you on this esteemed accomplishment. You were chosen from a pool of many, many talented Forex traders and the title is a noteworthy one. Be sure to include it on your business cards, book dedications, as well as this year’s tax return.

If you have never signed up to be PIP of the Week or have not won yet (join the club), the race starts over every Monday morning. Just enter the running through our Facebook page. The winner is chosen every Friday at 4pm EST, and receives cool Currensee gear to show off to their friends. I would tell you what the prize is, but since I've never won... you get the point.

Less than 48 hours until the next PIP of the Week is chosen. Will YOU claim my title this week?
