Announcement

With the International Traders Conference just over three weeks away, we thought it would be a good idea to offer anyone wanting to deepen their Forex trading knowledge a look at what goes on within the conference. The ITC is an event hosted by FXstreet.com, one of the world’s top 10 currency trading portals offering information to help traders achieve success in Forex investing. Since the conference is purely educational, FXstreet.com’s focus was directed primarily into seeking out six of the best industry professionals to help attendees become better traders. For three days, guests will be able to partake in a series of talks and interactive live trading sessions with the speakers, as well as connect with others who share the same interests as them.

What makes this event so special is its vivacious, warm, and social atmosphere. Since there is a maximum of 70 attendees each year, the event remains very personal, allowing guests to work closely with the speakers. For three hours each day, they will be able to engage in live trading sessions with each of the six speakers where they will get to follow along with their trading on their own computers and even partake in a few trades themselves.

Below are some photos taken at the last ITC, which took place in 2010:

The event was enjoyed by all in attendance!

Noemí, Content Director at FXstreet.com, was able to get a Skype interview with professional Forex trader and educator Rob Booker! Here, he provides insight on what the ITC is really about ---> Rob Booker Interview.

Having the opportunity to interact with others who are passionate about improving their Forex trading skills is what makes the ITC such a unique event. Here is what a four-year attendee from Greece had to say about the conference:

"I have participated to the ITC from the first venue up to the most recent. This says a lot about my liking for a venue like that. I have no relationship whatsoever with the organizers so the decision to come from my country and attend was merely based on the merits that I receive towards my strive to become a better trader. The atmosphere, the organizers and the speakers have always been exceptional.
I went the first year and then thought that I might not go again cause I had a lot of information to digest. But likely each year has been so different, especially  the info that you can implement to your trading.
For me the motivational aspect of the ITC is the biggest  bonus as you get to meet with very interesting people and exchange ideas and cultures from all over the world!!
The way the ITC is organized  is unique on how you learn,  interact,  meet  and talk to speakers. All the concepts covered are immediately analyzed and applied during the live trading sessions."

Yannis Rigos – ITC ‘07, ‘08, ‘09 and ‘10 attendee (Greece)

What better way to start the summer than coming to work in Boston’s North End for a hot startup? The greenway is a perfect place for lunch and “sight-seeing”, al fresco dining can be had all over the neighborhood, and you can do some really cool work as part of the Currensee team.

Our 30-person company started back in 2008 with a handful of dollars and some good ideas. Fast-forward to today and we’re growing our team of stellar employees. If you don’t know much about who we are, we’re a well-funded, high-energy startup that combines financial services and software development to provide a unique alternative investment service for our clients. Our mission has always been to create trust and transparency in the world of foreign exchange and our $30M in assets under management in just over a year and a half proves it.

Since then, we have steadily grown to a 30+ person company that operates in the heart of Boston’s beautiful North End. The people that currently keep us moving forward, known as the Currensee “Pips,” are truly the ones who make being here everyday an absolute pleasure. This group of innovative and hard working professionals comprised of engineers, sales people, product developers, marketers and many more have all contributed to building Currensee into what it is today.

The best part about our company is our ability to strike a perfect balance between corporate and casual. The professionalism within our spacious building is channeled into running and developing the business, while the general milieu of the environment remains relatively laid back. In one conference room, you’ll find all necessary technology for a fully functioning webinar or international conference call, while in another, you’ll see a couple of plush beanbag chairs available for anyone’s relaxation pleasure. And if you ever do find yourself hungry, (which is highly unlikely given the densely populated scene of Italian cuisine and bevy of food trucks right in our backyard) you will be pleased to find a fully stocked, in-house kitchen.

Though our positions are constantly changing, a few that we are currently looking to fill are: Channel Marketing Manager, PT Web Designer/Developer, VP of Engineering, Web Developer, and Integration Tester. So, if immersing yourself each day in an environment that is both challenging and fulfilling where you are always learning is something that intrigues you, please send your resume to hotjobs@currensee.com. Hope to meet you!

At the beginning of March, Facebook threw a curve ball at the corporate world by announcing that in one months time, the social network would take on a whole new identity: the Timeline format. Like it or not, every company would now inevitably have to conform to this unfamiliar setup if they wished to stay relevant.

After learning what all this really meant for businesses, it seems as though the Timeline conversion will actually be a very beneficial move for both brand and fans. The new set up of each page will take on a much more interactive identity, which will allow them to connect on a more personal (and less intrusive) level with their fans.

An interesting article on Mashable by Victoria Ransom, founder and CEO of Wildfire Interactive, the global leader in social media marketing software, provides great insight on how brands can take advantage of the new format. In it, Ransom explains that one of the more anticipated results of this new format will be to bring a stronger element of humanization to corporations who use Facebook as a primary means of interacting with the masses. This will be achieved by using the Timeline to highlight milestones they have reached throughout their years growing and developing.

There was no way Currensee was going to be left in the dust and passed over by this monumental shift in social media interaction. Oh no, we were on it the moment we caught word of the change, working to come up with ways we could utilize it to help our Traders Leaders, investors, and everyone in between fare better in the foreign currency market.

An upside to this is that we’re now in better control of the content we share with our fans. This allows us to make the information we feel will benefit and help them the most top priority and easiest to access. If we’re broadcasting a webinar that will improve an investor’s individual trading experience in anyway, we can now pin it so it sits on top of the page for a few days. Also, if we bring a new Trade Leader on board, we will be able to share the information with fans in the form of a wider, more eye catching post.

Thursday, our marketing team premiered Currensee’s new Facebook page in the Timeline format. We featured at the top a banner comprised of each Trade Leader’s icon, which gives a quick summation of who’s currently on the roster. Another new feature we invite fans to use is the addition of direct messaging. The lines of communication are now open and we welcome fans to drop us a note anytime! Check out the new look here - enjoy!

Throughout the past few months, 200 of Massachusetts’ best and brightest technology companies have been competing for the prestigious Mass Tech Leadership Council awards.  Submissions were judged by a panel of Council trustees and local thought leaders who narrowed the contest down to 15 star-studded companies. We were totally psyched to learn that we made it to the finalist list!

Our fellow finalists could not be a more eclectic bunch of public and private companies. They have a wide array of products, ranging from Gemvara’s design-your-own jewelry to iWalk’s electronic limbs. The competition was stiff and we’re proud to be the only financial services tech company who made the cut.

On October 6th, all fifteen finalists will duel it out for the Product of the Year title at the Massachusetts Technology Awards Gala.  Throughout the cocktail reception, the CEO of each company will present their product and the winner will be judged by a live audience vote.   We’re counting on Currensee CEO, Dave Lemont, to dazzle the crowd and bring home our first Product of the Year Award!

If you’re anything like me, you like to be in control. Maybe it’s my type A personality. Maybe it’s because I'm a middle child. Maybe it's my background in finance. But, I like to be in control – especially when it comes to my investments. The challenge with many of the financial instruments we invest in, such as mutual funds, ETFs, managed accounts and hedge funds, is that we have to hand over complete control to someone else – a money manager, a portfolio manager – someone else calls all the shots.

Well, I’m happy to tell you about a pretty cool new feature set that we’re releasing to investors in the Trade Leaders program. As you probably know, the Trade Leaders program is different because it’s built to help investors achieve success and profitability in the foreign exchange market – all while giving them complete transparency and control. Here’s the scoop on the new feature set we call “Advanced Controls.”

Today, investors in the program have the ability to control their Trade Leaders portfolio by easily changing, deleting and modifying allocations by Trade Leader. So, at any time if an investor decides they don’t want to follow a particular Trade Leader, they can end the relationship and we automatically close any positions that Trade Leader had open for the investor. Likewise, if an investor wanted to change an allocation in a particular Trade Leader, say, from 30% to 50%, they can do that as well in the click of a button.

The Advanced Controls features take allocation to another level and give the investor the ability to control leverage and drawdown. Don’t want to bother with adjusting these levers? No worries. You don’t have to make any changes. These controls are for those active investors looking for more of a hands-on experience and for fund managers and asset managers who have specific drawdown limitations and leverage caps in their strategy or investment policy guidelines.

What can you do with the new Advanced Controls features?  So glad you asked.

  • Think a Trade Leader has tight risk controls and want to set your Drawdown Protection to something other than 30%? You will now have the ability to set Drawdown Protection by Trade Leader. Now you can decide how much risk you are willing to tolerate and can set this control anywhere between a 1% and 90% limit on draw downs.
  • Concerned about the maximum level of drawdown that can happen across your entire account? You can see the Account Level Drawdown Protection, calculated based on Leader by Leader Protection and unallocated capital.  This feature shows the maximum drawdown that the account could realize. It takes into account any unallocated capital and is based on the overall account balance.
  • Decided that you would like to invest in a Trade Leader but want to scale down on risk? You will be able to set a Leverage Multiplier on a Trade Leader, which allows Investors to reduce the amount of risk on an individual investment.  The Leverage Multiplier may be set to take any level between 10% and 100% of the Trade Leader’s leverage; a 50% multiplier will give you half of the Trade Leader's leverage level on each trade.
  • Worried about over-leveraging and want to limit the leverage that may be taken by your account at any given time? You will have the ability to set a Leverage Cap on the account of up to 5000% (50:1 leverage).  Trades which would put you over this leverage amount will not be taken, but you will start trading again once your leverage is reduced beneath this level.

Many of these controls are customizable per Trade Leader you follow. So, for each Trade Leader in your portfolio, you can set a variety of leverage and drawdown controls based on your appetite for risk. Once again, if you don’t want to set them, you can simply use the pre-set values we’ve determined for you based on the Trade Leader’s strategy and risk management profile.

We’d love to hear from you as you start to use some of these nifty new controls. How is it improving your Trade Leaders experience?

That's right folks! These are exciting days here at Currensee.  We're proud to announce that our alternative investment service, which gives investors unique access to the world currency markets, has secured an additional $4 million as Series C financing from North Bridge Venture Partners, Egan-Managed Capital and Vernon & Park Capital. To date, the C round money brings us to a total financing of $16.8 million!

The latest round of funding will be used to develop new decision-making, collaboration and portfolio management tools for investors, to make currency investing even simpler and more transparent. It will also be used to fortify the Currensee technology infrastructure including data center expansion and enhancements to the Currensee Intelligent Trade Replication Technology™... a sophisticated trade automation engine that precisely manages the timing and round-turn execution of trades. The funds will also drive further international development, including the expansion of the Currensee sales teams in the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as new global partnership deals in Asia and Europe.

“Our customers come to us and invest in Trade Leaders mainly because of the lackluster returns and lack of transparency that come with traditional investments,” said Dave Lemont, CEO of Currensee. “We are bringing the world currency markets to every investor looking to move beyond the stock market while creating a viable alternative asset class for the market as a whole. This new funding will help us expand our distribution globally so that investors and professional money managers can benefit from the fast growing foreign exchange market.”

I tweeted yesterday ...

“There is nothing quite like pre-launch madness. Complete stress & mayhem but I wouldn't have it any other way:-) #whyilovestartuplife”

I love start-up life and it’s mostly because of days like today.

Moments ago, we launched the Trade Leaders™ Investment Program, an important milestone in Currensee history. As the first social network for Forex traders, our mission is — and has always been — to bring trust to the foreign currency market. We’ve made great progress including growing our social network, partnering with top-tier brokers and expanding to the UK, but we’re not finished yet. The launch of the Trade Leaders Investment Program delivers a new way to invest in the currency market by enabling investors to follow and automatically execute the trades of some of the most successful traders from the Currensee Social Network.

What does that mean exactly? It means that investors in any asset class and on every continent can get involved in the Forex markets, even if they’ve never traded a currency pair themselves.

Here’s the 10-second overview: Trade Leaders are top Forex traders hand-picked from the Currensee social network. We relentlessly assess their performance, risk management, and returns and only the best make the cut. You can see it for yourself by clicking on any of the Trade Leaders on the Trade Leaderboard. Remember, Trade Leader performance is actual performance. Never fake or fluff. No backtesting or demo accounts. Real, honest to goodness performance in a live account.

Investors in the Trade Leaders Investment Program check out the Trade Leaders, select the Trade Leaders they want to invest in and create their very own Trade Leader portfolios. Once the investor allocates their funds, the Trade Leader’s trades are automatically executed in the investor’s account. Best of all, investors see all trades executed in real time and have full control over their account.

Watch The New Way to Invest, and learn about the program in just a few minutes.

Today, Forex is one of the hottest alternative asset classes being traded. While we can’t take credit for all the hype, we’d like to think of ourselves as being on the forefront of innovation in this market. It’s amazing to think what started as a simple idea between a software developer and a Forex trader has turned into an international foreign currency social network with thousands of traders meeting and collaborating in real time. And, now, that social network is a source of top traders for investors around the world to take advantage of this dynamic asset class. Pretty cool stuff.

Are you looking to earn a quick buck? No need to trip over small children or fellow pip chasers, because all Currensee members are getting an extra 10 Bonus Bucks to spend in the Currensee Marketplace as part of our Bucksapalooza extravaganza. The Pips of Currensee are fans of free Bucks and tacky names, and thought there was no better way to kick off this [sticky] summer than to give back to the traders that give us a reason to come to work every day.

To the skeptics and party poopers, here’s the not-so-fine print you’re all waiting for:

  • You get 10 Bonus Bucks. Really, they’re free. You don’t owe us your firstborn, but we do enjoy homemade soufflés.
  • Spend your Bonus Bucks and other Bucks you’ve earned by participating on Currensee.com towards purchases in the Currensee Marketplace.
  • Your 10 Bonus Bucks and this offer will self-destruct on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. On Thursday you will wake up a refreshed individual minus those 10 Bonus Bucks if you haven’t spent them.

Why are we doing this? Well, the obvious answer is because we’re awesome. But the real reason is because we’re always riding our high-horse about real traders, real trades, real time, and it’s time to give back with real rewards. We’ve really pulled out all the stops so you can get your Buck’s worth. Choose from live trade planning webinars, daily newsletters from our Chief Market Analyst, a Thomson Reuters trading widget, and more. In fact, if you’re reading this your Currensee Bonus Bucks are waiting. Quit reading about it and go spend your free money!
